Sheryl Roberts M.A. LPCC
Sheryl brings her unique life experiences and her passion for helping people into play as a therapist who is interested in the interplay between spiritual and mental health. She graduated from Adams State University with a Masters in Mental Health counseling and interned at TRU Hospice as a grief counselor.
Besides her counseling experience, Sheryl lived for twelve years in the South East Asian country of Cambodia as a missionary where she lived and worked with her husband of over thirty years and their ten children. This life experience have sparked her counseling interests in Third Culture Kids, cultural acculturation and adaptation for expatriate workers, faith-informed marriage and family issues and grief and loss.
Sheryl uses an existential, Adlerian approach to therapy which honors each individual’s experience while empowering clients to build resilience, solve problems and approach life with hope and courage.
Sheryl is also trained in Brainspotting which she uses to help clients process their life’s trauma both past and present and in the Gottman Method of couple’s counseling. She sees Catholic couples for premarital coaching (before the wedding), marriage coaching (2 months to 1 year after the wedding) and marriage counseling (1 year after the wedding and beyond).
Sheryl is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Catholic Psychotherapist Association.
